Local Spotlight
Tyler Pochop, Mighty Men of Valor Studios
Tyler knew he wanted to make movies from a young age. After serving in the Army, he began studying filmmaking at San Jose State University. Before graduating in 2014, he completed a couple of short films. Since then, Tyler has had the privilege of working in many roles in front of and behind the camera but is really enjoying his current role as producer. He especially loves working on independent films with smaller crews and the inherent quicker pace it affords.
He shares that filmmaking is challenging to have as a career, but for those who persevere they get the experience of being around people actively pursuing their dreams and celebrating together when the dreams come to life.
Tyler has worked on several productions in our region and has found our region offers an incredible range of locations and hard-working cast and crew. His most recent production, Miracle Mile (featured above), Tyler wrote, produced and starred in and while other locations were considered, they elected to film the majority of the film in Shasta County.
The film is scheduled for a short theatrical release next month and then he hopes to continue making a variety of films. Congratulations to you all!
Location Spotlights
Shasta, Tehama, Yuba & Sutter
Shasta County - Basecamp Lassen: Basecamp Lassen is a diamond in the rough! Among the 300 acres some features include a striking view of Mount Lassen, two absolutely beautiful creeks running either side of its main house, and one of California's most historic barns! Its recent renovation was done with care to honor the area's classic style, character, and history of the land! This location has opportunities year-round and is the home to many cattle, goats and sheep that graze there from time to time. Also included on site are several houses with a variety of amenities, gorgeous interiors, open spaces, and a large pool that sits just in front of the main house and the natural creeks! For more info & photos: Basecamp Lassen - Film Shasta
Tehama County - Downtown Red Bluff: Colorful, authentic and endearing. Downtown Red Bluff's collection of old western buildings, many of which have been repurposed into local businesses, makes for a visually interesting stretch of Red Bluff. Historic Victorian homes and storefronts are adjacent to some fresh murals and more modern options. For more info & photos: Downtown Red Bluff | Film Tehama
Yuba/Sutter - Frenchtown Inn: Situated in the foothills of Yuba county, Frenchtown inn is a unique and stunning property next to a 7 acre pond. The mediterranean influenced architecture and interiors include arches and tiled floors. The outdoor spaces include seating and even a dance floor with strung lights above. This could be depicted as Europe or America, 40 years ago, or current day! A breathtaking location. For more info & photos: Frenchtown Inn - Film Yuba-Sutter (filmyubasutter.com)
