  1. National Set Medics CEO Puts His Life in the Hands of His Own Medics'

National Set Medics CEO Puts His Life in the Hands of His Own Medics'

    February 26, 2026

In the upcoming documentary The Last Rocketman , Dan Schlund, CEO of National Set Medics, does something few leaders would ever consider - he literally places his life in the hands of his own emergency medical team. Long before founding National Set Medics, Dan Schlund was known around the world as "The Rocketman," performing jaw-dropping jet pack flights across international stages and major events. His high-risk performances thrilled audiences, but in 2013, a catastrophic crash changed everything. Schlund broke his neck in a life-threatening jet pack accident - an incident that could have ended both his career and his life. Instead, it became the turning point that reshaped his purpose. After recovering, Schlund transitioned his focus from performing to protecting others, becoming a paramedic and eventually founding National Set Medics - a company dedicated to providing elite on-set emergency medical services for film, television, live events, and high-risk productions. Now, more than a decade after his accident, Schlund is strapping the jet pack on one final time for this highly-anticipated documentary with his trusted medical crew by his side. Beth: When Dan made the decision to fly again, it wasn't lost on any of us what was at stake. This wasn't just another stunt. This was a man who had once broken his neck doing the very thing he was preparing to do again. As Director of the Reality Medic Division for National Set Medics, my job was not to hope everything would go well - it was to prepare for the exact moment it didn't. Our preparation mirrored the standards we bring to every high-risk production: layered contingency planning, clearly defined extraction pathways, pre-staged advanced life support equipment, spinal and airway management protocols, hemorrhage control strategies, and rapid transport coordination. We ran the "what if" scenarios over and over - hard landings, loss of consciousness, spinal compromise, fuel-related burns, cardiac arrest. We positioned ourselves for immediate access without compromising the shot. Every medic on that line knew their assignment before the engines ever ignited. There is no room for ego in that environment only precision, discipline, and trust. My years serving as a medic on multiple seasons of Naked and Afraid shaped much of how I build these teams. In remote, austere environments, you learn quickly that rescue is rarely simple and never convenient. You learn to anticipate problems before they declare themselves. You learn to operate autonomously, to improvise when necessary, and to stay clinically calm while the world around you is not. Those experiences, along with work across other reality productions and high-risk shoots, forged a team culture built on redundancy, adaptability, and quiet competence. What made this mission different was the personal layer. Dan wasn't just a performer. He's our CEO. He's a colleague. He's a friend. Watching him trust us enough to step back into the air carried weight. But that's what National Set Medics is built on - the understanding that preparation replaces panic. When you commit to elite medical support, you commit fully. In the end, The Last Rocketman isn't just a story about flight. It's a story about resilience, calculated risk, and trusting the unseen professionals who stand ready when courage meets consequence. Our role is simple, even when the circumstances are not: when someone puts their life on the line, we are there trained, prepared, and ready to bring them home.

Step and Repeat LA Produces Media Wall and Hedge Display for City of Pasadena's 2026 Black History Festival

    February 26, 2026

Pasadena, CA - Step and Repeat LA produced a large-format media wall and hedge wall display for the City of Pasadena's 2026 Black History Festival, held February 21 at Robinson Park. The installation featured a central media wall displaying the festival's theme and partner logos, flanked by hedge walls showcasing portrait posters honoring influential Black historical figures and cultural leaders. Hosted by the City of Pasadena and the Black History Planning Committee, the annual festival brought together residents, performers, and community organizations to celebrate Black history, culture, and community. This year's theme, "Unifying the Culture & Protecting Our Freedom, Passing the Baton to the Next Generation," was reflected throughout the event's programming and visual environment. Step and Repeat LA worked closely with organizers to develop the media wall layout and historical portrait displays, incorporating partner logos and creating cohesive portrait collages that complemented the overall presentation. The display served as a visual focal point within the festival grounds and provided a structured backdrop for photography and attendee interaction. "We worked closely with the organizers to refine the layout, incorporate partner logos, and develop the historical portrait displays so everything came together cohesively," said Codi-Rose, Executive Director of Step and Repeat LA. "It was a collaborative process, and we were glad to support the festival with a display that honored the occasion." The installation combined the clean presentation of the media wall with the natural texture of the hedge walls and the historical portrait elements, creating a respectful and visually unified environment aligned with the festival's purpose. Step and Repeat LA specializes in media walls, hedge walls, and large-format displays for civic events, festivals, and corporate productions throughout Southern California.

WLA3D mixes it up with Duncan and Kahlua

    February 24, 2026

For a special event at EatAtChain, we were commissioned to create a four foot tall replica of a Dunkin Kahlua bottle. The main part of the event was to guess how many "donut holes" were in the bottle. We not only created a remarkably similar larger bottle, but also filled with over 2000 hand painted "donut Holes' made to resemble chocolate, caramel and powdered sugar 1" donut holes. This was created by sourcing over 2,000 pink pong balls then painting. The results were amazing. The client loved it and everyone at the event had fun trying to guess how many donut holes filled the bottle. Just another day at WLA. Peter Menotti WLA3D westla3dprinting.com 310-760-1131

    February 24, 2026

You are on your dream cruise vacation and looking for the ideal spot to take a memorable photo with your loved ones. No need to search for that special spot any longer. WeCutFoam fabricated decor signs for all 13 Royal Caribbean Celebrity X cruise ships. Whether you are styepping on the deck of the Constellation, Xfinity, Silhouette or any of the other cruise ships - we got you covered. Each sign, standing about 4 ft tall, was made of foam and Sintra, applied a hard coat for protection and for aesthetic finish and include casters for easier placement. Each carries its ship name using a mirror acrylic face, glued onto a clear acrylic, giving it a floating-like effect. All signs are placed at the boarding walkway so passengers can start their memories from the moment they step onto that gangway. Action Picture Cars 1973 Pantera for your next Production

    By: John McGann | February 23, 2026

1973 De Tomaso Pantera Restomod Honors Family Legacy with Subtle Modern Touches

A deeply personal restoration transforms a beloved Pantera into a rolling tribute, blending restrained design, modern craftsmanship, and decades of family history. "We just tried to stay respectful and build a nice car that comes into the now with the interior but still stays Pantera on the outside." That's an accurate summation from builder and designer Steve Strope about the approach he and his guys at Pure Vision Design took when revamping this 1973 De Tomaso Pantera. Subtlety was key. A Pantera is already a beautiful car; Steve just wanted to freshen things up on the inside. Bobbi Brown is the owner of the Pantera, and it has special meaning to her. Her father, Howard, purchased it in 1981. He had long admired Panteras and jumped at the chance to own one when the time was right. After he passed away, the car became Bobbi's, and wanting to honor her father's legacy, she turned to Pure Vision Design to handle the rehabilitation of this classic American/Italian mashup. We say mashup, of course, because the Pantera was a product of Italian design and manufacturing but powered by Ford 351 Cleveland engines. Being sold in the U.S. through Lincoln-Mercury dealerships added to the exclusivity of the model. Panteras were available through the partnership with Ford from 1971 to 1974. After that partnership with Ford ended, Panteras could be imported direct from De Tomaso until production ultimately ended in 1990 after a production run of about 7,200 cars. Bobbi's car is noteworthy because it was an early recipient of a set of steel fender flares by Hall Pantera, a company started by Gary and Beverly Hall in 1976 that specialized in performance and restoration parts for Panteras. Among those parts were steel fender flares modeled after the fiberglass flares on the Pantera Group 4 race cars. The replica's steel design allowed them to be welded onto production cars for the uber-exotic widebody look. Hall Pantera still exists, by the way, and it's currently run by the Hall's granddaughter Tara. Bobbi and her son began a restoration of the car but soon realized they wanted professional help. Research led her to Steve Strope and Pure Vision Design. Steve began by completely disassembling the car and sending the engine to Clay Smith Cams for a rebuild. Although it's mostly stock, they added a stroker crank for a little more displacement. Steve reckons the engine is good for about 425 horsepower. The suspension was completely rebuilt with new bushings and ARP hardware, and they installed Wilwood brakes front and rear. The original coolant lines were replaced with stainless tubing, and the radiator was ditched for a much larger aluminum radiator with a pair of Spal brushless fans. The original ZF five-speed transmission was also disassembled and inspected. The case was fully polished before being put back together. Steve also immediately and gleefully removed the notoriously unreliable Lucas wiring, replacing it with a new harness and fuses from Painless Performance. The body and paint were in great shape, so Steve and Bobbi decided to leave the exterior alone. The interior was a different story, however. The entire interior of the car was reworked by Pure Vision with help from designer Eric Brockmeyer. Most notably absent is the big center console these cars came with. Inspired by the exposed shifter mechanisms in Pagani supercars, Steve metal-finished and chrome-plated the Pantera's stock linkage, turning it into a functional piece of art visible beneath an elegant framework that supports the structure. The original throttle linkage also received a similar treatment, with the mechanical levers finished in chrome and left on display near the shifter. Speedhut designed a modern set of gauges, angled to face the driver in the instrument panel and supplemented by mini gauges in the center of the dash. Eric Thorson stitched all the Italian leather that covers nearly every surface of the interior, and those stylish stainless steel inserts in the dash are from material intended to make a custom kitchen backsplash. Vintage Air provided a compact HVAC unit, and Steve installed a Kicker Bluetooth receiver in the dash that controls a full complement of speakers hidden in the kick panels and doors. Reassembly of the car included polishing the cylinder heads and intake manifold before bolting them back on to the 351C. The headers, exhaust pipes, and rear suspension pieces received a Cerakote ceramic treatment in a shade of gold that perfectly complements the car's dazzling blue paint. All new weatherstripping and trim pieces were installed, and the bumpers and chrome trip were blacked out. Bobbi had installed those fancy three-piece Gotti wheels years ago, so Steve had them polished to a mirror surface and mounted Pirelli Cintauro P7 tires, the rear measuring a whopping 345/35-15, the same as a Lamborghini Countach. Steve unveiled the car at the 2025 Grand National Roadster Show, to the delight of the gathered crowd, as well as Bobbi, who hadn't seen the car in one piece since dropping it off at Pure Vision many months prior. She loves the rehabilitation of her father's pride and joy and wasted no time putting miles on it in his honor.
