Riverfront Stages Announces Expansion of its Portfolio of Soundstage Facilities in Los Angeles
March 30, 2023
Expansion Will Support Ongoing Service Amid Increased Demand for Content
LOS ANGELES, CA - As they celebrate 20 years in business, Riverfront Stages, Inc. ("RSI"), a premium operator of soundstage facilities in Los Angeles, is excited to announce the expansion of their flagship Atwater production complex with the opening of STAGE 4, further enhancing their unique blend of open stages, high-end standing sets, production offices and support space. Stage 4 adds 9,000 square feet of clear-span OPEN STAGE in a building that has 25,000 additional square feet of Support Warehouse space ideal for set construction, set dressing, costumes, props, special effects, transportation, rehearsals, catering, or other production support.
Long known for having the best standing sets in Los Angeles, RSI has been quietly expanding their open stage footprint since the acquisition of the buildings that became Stage 2 in 2014 and Stage 3 in 2015. In 2021, RSI added a neighboring property which became Stage 4 and increased the size of their compound to 7 buildings with 140,000 square feet of stages, warehouses, and offices surrounded by large parking lots with over 625 spaces.
"We planned to leave the warehouse raw for use as mill, storage, or other production support, but unprecedented demand for stage space in the heart of Los Angeles led us to convert a large portion of the building into a soundstage," said Riverfront's VP of Operations, Joseph Mulcrone. "Since its inception, RSI has been dedicated to providing our clients with the space and resources they need to deliver content in faster, more creative, less expensive ways - and the addition of Stage 4 helps us offer producers even more options for scaling their footprint up or down as their budgets and schedules require."
"We are proud to offer Stage 4 to the entertainment industry," added Mulcrone, "and are trying to do our part to keep our talented coworkers, colleagues, and friends in Hollywood rather than sending our best and brightest out of State due to a lack of viable turn-key production space."
When asked about RSI's future expansion plans, Mulcrone concluded, "we are considering an option through the soundstage tax credit program and are hopeful for the opportunity those funds could provide." California Senate Bill 144 was passed in 2021, creating the California Soundstage Film Tax Credit Program. This incentive allocates $150 million in tax credits from 2022-2032 to encourage the construction, repurposing, and renovation of soundstages across the State.
Riverfront Stages is available for feature, series, commercial, or short-form bookings - including Stages 2, 3, 4, and the standing sets at Stage 1. RSI operates its soundstage facility in Los Angeles along the Burbank/Glendale production zone. For more information, visit riverfrontstages.com or call (818) 364-7250
