CFG Announces Acquisition of Sun Valley-based 'Digital Film Studios'
November 2, 2022
Sun Valley-based 'Digital Film Studios' has been acquired by CFG LA, putting the boutique camera, grip, and lighting rental company under new ownership after 15 successful years. "The acquisition will allow CFG to integrate further into the cinematography segment and maintain leadership in cutting-edge technology just as we do in our current lighting & grip market," said Brandon Whiteside, owner of CFG.
CFG has purchased the assets of DFS and will rebrand the camera operations as CFG Camera Services side by side with Lighting & Grip in Pacoima. "The timing has been great! We were able to take on an additional 5000 square feet within our current location in preparation of the move and have been working day in and day out for the last 3 months. We have built a unique and luxurious area with four different prep bays which include individual work stations for a streamlined prep as well as a private screening room," said Johnny Smith, CFG's General Manager.
Danny Toback will stay on as the general manager of camera services for CFG, assisting in the transition and customer outreach. "I'm excited to move from a micro boutique rental house to a company with the facilities to serve a larger clientele using the best and latest camera gear."
Digital Film Studios was a renowned one-stop shop for grip, lighting, camera and sound stages. CFG will now add immense value to the entire scope of the rental equipment segment of production.
CFG Started in a garage in 2013 with a desire to help small time filmmakers and college students rent lighting, grip, and cameras for friendly rates. Success swiftly enabled us to move to a storage unit, then another, and then one more before we took on our first warehouse in 2014. We found our calling with pre-loaded grip truck and lighting packages, and moved to our current location in 2016. We currently occupy approximately 50,000 square feet of building and yard space. We maintain the resources to provide you service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a professional perspective at all times.
